I am an interdisciplinary artist, and designer working at the intersection of visual communication, material culture and new media. My work centers on knowledge production through artistic practice and experimentation, particularly exploring how tacit knowledge and situated knowledge are generated, how they differ from traditionally recognized forms of knowledge, and how they manifest in artistic practice.
  
Recently, I have been critically examining the conceptual limitations and possibilities of ‘non-arbitrary’ symbols through Korean uiseong-eo and uitae-eo, or simply sound symbolism, which blur the boundaries between language and gesture. While I explore these ideas through writing, I also translate them into visual and spatial manifestations through artistic experiments, practice, exhibitions, and presentations. In this process, I investigate how chains of signifiers formed through mimesis contribute to meaning-making and examine the interaction between materiality, affect, lyricism, and aesthetic experience.
   
I am currently pursuing a PhD in Artistic Research at the University of the Arts Bremen (HfK), Germany, and the University of Groningen (RUG), the Netherlands. I hold an MA in New Media from the University of the Arts Berlin (UdK) and a BFA in Communication Design from Dankook University (DKU), South Korea.

My work has been showcased at exhibitions and symposiums such as Vorspiel Transmediale/CTM Festival, 48h Neukölln (Berlin), and Personal Structures (Venice), and I have received project support from institutions including ARKO (Arts Council Korea) and DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service).

나는 시각 커뮤니케이션, 물질 문화, 뉴미디어를 가로지르며 작업하는 예술가이자 디자이너이다. 예술 실천과 실험을 통해 지식이 형성되는 방식에 관심을 두고 있으며, 특히 암묵적 지식(tacit knowledge)과 상황적 지식(situated knowledge)이 어떻게 생성되고, 기존의 지식 개념과 어떻게 다른지, 그리고 예술적 실천 속에서 어떻게 드러나는지 탐구한다.

최근 연구는 한국어 의성어와 의태어를 통해 언어와 제스처의 경계를 흐리는 ‘비임의적(non-arbitrary)’ 상징의 개념적 한계와 가능성을 비판적으로 검토하는 것에 집중하고 있다. 이 개념을 글쓰기를 통해 분석하는 동시에, 예술 실험, 실천, 전시, 발표를 통해 시각적·공간적으로 현시하며 탐색한다. 이 과정에서 모방을 통한 기표들의 연쇄가 의미 생성과 어떤 관계를 맺는지 살펴보고, 물질성과 정동(affect), 서정성, 그리고 미학적 경험 간의 상호작용을 연구하고 있다.

현재 독일 브레멘 예술대학교(HfK)와 네덜란드 흐로닝언 대학교(RUG)의 예술 연구 박사 과정에서 관련 연구를 진행 중이며, 독일 베를린 예술대학교(UdK)에서 뉴미디어 석사(MA), 한국 단국대학교(DKU)에서 커뮤니케이션 디자인 학사(BFA)를 취득했다.

작업은 Vorspiel Transmediale/CTM Festival, 48h Neukölln (베를린), Personal Structures (베니스) 등의 전시 및 심포지엄에서 발표되었으며, ARKO(한국문화예술위원회), DAAD(독일 학술교류처) 등의 기관으로부터 프로젝트 지원을 받았다.
