She is currently pursuing a PhD in the binational artistic PhD program at the University of the Arts Bremen (HfK) and the University of Groningen (RUG). Her research explores Korean sound-symbolic expressions as an archive of material imagination. To this end, she develops the method of iconic translation, transforming sound symbolism into artistic compositions that reveal layers of experience difficult to articulate. Also, by combining reenactment as an art form, she connects personal memory with broader social issues and explores the relation between art and society. Her doctoral project is supervised by Prof. Dr. Andrea Sick, Prof. Dennis P. Paul from HfK and Prof. Dr. Ann-Sophie Lehmann, Dr. David Shim from RUG .
She received an MA in Visual Communication at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), where she studied in the New Media class, after completing an adaptation study (Anpassungsstudium) there, and her BFA in Communication Design at Dankook University, Korea. She currently teaches at HfK Bremen and has previously worked as a tutor in the New Media class at UdK. She has presented her work internationally through exhibitions, publications, and symposia. Her scholarships, grants, and residencies—including the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Arts Council Korea (ARKO), and thealit Frauen.Kultur.Labor Bremen—have supported projects linking artistic research with ecological and feminist perspectives in collaborative and socially engaged contexts.
