Dawoon Park (b.1991, KR) is an interdisciplinary artist and artistic researcher. She focuses on fleeting patterns of perception—sounds, gestures, and impressions—through which humans and more-than-human beings form relations and sensitivities. Her work questions cultural conventions that privilege what can be seen, named, and defined, and through installations, films, and performances she proposes spaces where performativity beyond representation can be experienced.

She is currently pursuing a PhD in the binational artistic PhD program at the University of the Arts Bremen (HfK Bremen) and the University of Groningen (RUG). Her research explores Korean sound-symbolic expressions as an archive of material imagination. To this end, she develops the method of iconic translation, transforming sound symbolism into artistic compositions that reveal layers of experience difficult to articulate. Combined with reenactment as an artistic form, she connects personal memory with contemporary social issues, experimenting with new relations between art and society. The project is supervised by Prof. Dr. Andrea Sick, Prof. Dr. Ann-Sophie Lehmann, Dr. David Shim, and Prof. Dennis P. Paul.

Park received her MA in New Media and Visual Communication at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), after completing an adaptation program there, and her BFA in Communication Design at Dankook University, Korea. She currently teaches at HfK Bremen and has previously worked as a tutor in the New Media class at UdK. She has presented her work internationally through exhibitions, publications, and symposia. Her residencies and fellowships—including the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Arts Council Korea (ARKO), and thealit Frauen.Kultur.Labor Bremen—have supported projects linking artistic research with ecological and feminist perspectives in collaborative and socially engaged contexts.
 박다운(1991년 한국 출생)은 다양한 매체를 활용하는 학제간 예술가이자 예술 연구가이다. 그는 순간적으로 스쳐 지나가는 지각의 패턴—소리, 몸짓, 인상—에 주목하며, 인간 너머의 존재들과 우리가 관계 맺고 감수성을 형성하는 방식을 탐색한다. 그의 작업은 보이는 것, 이름 붙일 수 있는 것, 정의 가능한 것만을 특권화하는 문화적 관습을 비판하고, 설치, 영화, 퍼포먼스를 통해 재현(representation) 너머의 수행성을 경험할 수 있는 장을 제안한다.

현재 브레멘예술대학교와 흐로닝언대학교의 바이내셔널 아티스틱 PhD 프로그램에서 박사과정을 밟고 있는 그는, 정동적이고 공감각적 심상을 불러일으키는 한국어 의성어와 의태어를 물질적 상상력의 아카이브로 탐구한다. 이를 위해 아이코닉 트랜슬레이션(iconic translation)이라는 방법론을 제시하며, 소리 상징주의를 예술적 구성으로 전환하고 형언하기 어려운 경험의 다른 층위를 드러낸다. 나아가 재연(reenactment)이라는 예술적 형식과 결합해 개인적 기억을 동시대 사회적 쟁점과 연결하며, 예술이 사회와 맺을 수 있는 새로운 관계를 실험한다. 이 프로젝트는 안드레아 지크 교수, 안 소피 레만 교수, 데이비드 심 박사, 데니스 파울 교수의 지도를 받고 있다.

박다운은 베를린예술대학교에서 뉴미디어 및 시각커뮤니케이션 적응연구 후 석사 학위를, 단국대학교에서 커뮤니케이션디자인 학사를 취득했다. 현재 브레멘예술대학교에서 강의를 맡고 있으며, 이전에는 베를린예술대학교에서 뉴미디어 클래스에서 튜터로 활동했다. 전시, 출판, 심포지엄을 통해 국제적으로 작업을 발표해왔으며, 독일학술교류처(DAAD), 한국문화예술위원회(ARKO), 브레멘의 thealit Frauen.Kultur.Labor 등의 지원을 받아 생태적·페미니스트적 관점을 아티스틱 리서치와 접목하는 프로젝트를 이어오고 있다.
